The BASN BMS2 microphone completely surprised me. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell it wasn’t cheaply made. The construction is solid, and the shock mount, featuring carbon fiber, is one of the best I’ve seen. The flight case and packaging are also impressive, especially for this price range.
I tested it on four singers and an acoustic guitar, and it handled voices beautifully, particularly female vocals, bringing out great detail. When I recorded guitar, I was shocked by how much clarity and depth it captured. There is a slight noise floor, but nothing that’s a deal-breaker. I put it head-to-head with other microphones in its price range, and it competed toward the top. I even compared it to my go-to mic, which costs six times more, and the BMS2 still held its own.
I didn’t expect to love this mic, but it earned a spot in my mic locker. Whether for vocals or acoustic instruments, it performs way above its price point and is definitely worth checking out.
